Job Vacancy – Junior Network Engineer

ZanaNET are looking for a new Junior Network Engineer to join their rapidly expanding team, to be involved in exciting projects and being introduced to the latest and up-coming technologies.

Job Summary:

This position requires a skilled, motivated technical engineer who is customer focused. The role requires someone with a passion both for computer networks engineering and an inquisitive interest in developments within the Telecommunications and IT sectors. Additionally a drive to continually increase their technical experience and knowledge plus provide industry leading service and support to our client base. The position requires the candidate to be able to work effectively both as part of a team and individually and demonstrate the ability to solve problems in a logical and effective manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing quick, accurate and professional responses to client support
  • Queries/ticket support by both telephone/email and online ticket system
  • Implementation of new client solutions
  • Maintenance/upgrades of existing client systems and core internal systems
  • Occasional off-site work, for example data centre installations
  • Out of hours on-call assistance on rota basis (after appropriate training period)

Candidates will preferably have knowledge in as many of the following areas as possible:

  • MPLS WAN with dynamic routing (BGP,OSPF)
  • Routing and switching (Cisco / Juniper)
  • Hardware (Cisco, Juniper, Fortigate)
  • Operating systems (IOS, JunOS, Linux, FreeBSD, Windows Server, VMWare)
  • Systems (DNS,SMTP,RADIUS,)
  • Backup solutions and disaster recovery
  • Encrypted site to site and client VPNs (IPSec/OpenVPN)
  • NAT and firewall services

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree or comparable industry equivalent experience in network engineering or network support

Working Environment:

  • Normal office environment
  • UK Data Center locations
  • Occasional travel required to maintenance or customer locations

Note: The role will mainly involve home working with some office working and maintenance / customer site visits required

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
